The National Peace Officers Memorial Day Observance was held Friday, May 12, 2023, in front of the Law Enforcement Center. The ceremony was hosted by the Reno County Sheriff's Office and the Hutchinson Police Department. The event honored Law Enforcement who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving Reno County, the State of Kansas and abroad. Reno County Sheriff Darrian Campbell gave opening statements and Chaplain Adam Wooten gave the invocation. Guest speaker was Darin Beck, Executive Director of the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center, (KLETC). The Reno County Sheriff's Office, the Hutchinson Police Department and the Kansas Highway Patrol recognized their fallen officers. The Honor Guard from the Reno County Sheriff's Office and the Hutchinson Police Department posted the colors while "Taps" was played. Closing remarks were given by Interim Police Chief Alan Stoecklein. Reno County Crime Stoppers and the Civitan Club provided lunch for all Law Enforcement and support staff.
