Coming together to remember loved ones lost to or affected by violence.
A Community Candle Lighting Ceremony was held Thursday evening, April 27, 2023, marking National Crime Victims' Week - Survivor Voices: Elevate, Engage, Effect Change, at the South Hutchinson Community Center.
The annual event recognized crime victim survivors in a ceremony that included sand pouring and candle lighting. The event was sponsored by the Reno County District Attorney's Office, Bright House, Horizon Mental Health Centers Child Advocacy Center and Hutchinson Regional Medical Center SANE/SART Team.
Guest Speaker was LaTonya Ross a Hutchinson Regional Medical Center Forensic Advocate, SANE Department. The opening was given by Thomas Stanton, Reno County District Attorney and Jody Bryant, Victim-Witness Coordinator. Lighting of the candles was begun by Nikki Burkhart, Bright House, and the closing was given by Andrew Davidson, Deputy Reno County District Attorney.
