In a 2 to 1 vote at today’s meeting, the Reno County Board of Commissioners passed resolution #21-7 to opt out of the Governor’s mask mandate, executive order #20-52. The new resolution will take effect at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, March 24.
Individual businesses and organizations may still require mask wearing if they choose, and Commissioner Ron Hirst hopes community members will be considerate. “Respect one another, respect another business,” Hirst stated. “Follow proper guidelines. You don’t have to try and pull your weight one way or another.”
At the courthouse, masks will still be required in district court areas and at the public entrance. The Annex will encourage visitors to wear masks and increased sanitization efforts at all county locations will continue. The use of masks, hand washing, social distancing, along with vaccinating, are still the best measures for mitigating the spread of COVID-19.
