Request for Proposals For Landfill Methane Program

In response to interest by developers to capture methane gas for productive use at the Reno County Landfill, Reno County Commissioners approved sending out a Request For Proposals (RFP) during their meeting Tuesday, May 30, 2023. ATTENTION: 

The Reno County Landfill is open Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
The landfill is closed on Sundays. 

The landfill is CLOSED on these holidays:
New Year's Day
Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Veteran's Day
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day

CONSTRUCTION AND DEMOLITION:
Fees increased June 1, 2022.

  • The landfill will now charge a fee of $10 per ton for all construction demolition loads from Reno County businesses, with a $10 fee minimum per load. As of June 1, 2023, residents will no longer be charged for construction demolition loads.
  • There is a charge of $20 a ton, for construction & demolition loads that have trash or other materials mixed into it that are not accepted in the construction demolition site, with a $20 minimum fee per load.
  • Payment with credit or debit card only, cash and checks not accepted.

About the Landfill

Owned by Reno County, the Reno County Landfill is a Regional Solid Waste Sub-Title D landfill serving Harvey, Kingman, McPherson, Rice, Reno, and Stafford Counties. The landfill is operated off of Out of County Tonnage Fees as well as Reno County residents and businesses paying a set fee on their property taxes.
